BKOC Member Bio - Elizabeth Numbers

I was born to dog loving parents and spent my formative years learning the pit falls of having a kennel with them.  Our first breed was German Shepherds, so my parents wanting a German inspired name registered the kennel name Hausenbrook and their foundation was a bitch they brought home from Germany (Dad was in the army).  Later, Shetland Sheepdogs were added and became our main breed.  For my 8th birthday, I received my own sheltie "Flame" who had her championship put on her by my mom, and her CD by myself.

At 16 I bought my first Doberman because I missed having a larger dog.  It didn't take much to convince my parents to let me have one, and then another one.  They were pleasantly surprised because they had expected me to ask for a Newfie.

But as life takes its turns, I went off to university and my parents were eventually sent to the Middle East so our family got out of the dog business.  My love of dogs however never diminished.  I became popular with my friends because I was a built-in walker/playmate for their dogs.

Now I teach elementary school full-time and this has allowed me to return to my passion for dogs.  I currently own 3 Dobermans.  The oldest was owner-handled to her championship and I am working on conformation titles for her offspring.  I hope to put working titles on them in the future.  I am thoroughly addicted to dog shows, attending as many as I can.  I enjoy this opportunity to meet new people and see a lot of different and spectacular dogs.

I am currently the secretary for the Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club, Junior Handling Coordinator and Director with the Greater Mid-Ontario Doberman Fanciers.  I am also a member in good standing with the Canadian kennel Club and the Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada.

I look forward to many years actively participating in the world of purebred dogs.
