BKOC Member Bio - Alana De Charette
My passion for dogs started at a young age.  My Grandmother bred Standard Poodles and my parents always had a dog.  When I was older, I had an elderly neighbour who had a German Shepherd dog.  He was too old to walk his dog Boots, so I did.  I quickly fell in love with Boots and from that day forward, it has been nothing but Shepherds for me.

I started out in working lines and we did Shutzhund, Herding and Therapy work for St. John Ambulance.  After time I realized I needed a calmer dog so I started doing research on the American show lines.  I now have 2 beautiful American show line girls, Sky and Raven.  They are everything we could have asked for and we can't wait to get the into the show ring in 2009.  We do not kennel our girls (they are kept in the house with us) so it certainly keeps us on our toes!

For the past 2 years I have also taught obedience classes for The Ultimate Companion in Barrie and have donated classes to the Barrie O.S.P.C.A.  I have not been breeding for long and have only had one litter to date.  I am a member of the Barrie Kennel Club, Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and German Shepherd Club of Canada.  Although I wish I could  be home with the dogs full-time, I am the Financial Controller for a local home builder.
